Day 14 Exploring the Whistler area
It was dry this morning but cloud hung low over the mountains as we drove the 10 minutes north east towards Lost Lake.
We were thwarted by the fact there's no parking. So Lost Lake remained lost and we drove west on to our second stop of the day, Alta Lake. Thwarted again as Alta Lake carpark is closed for a year!
Hopefully it would be third time lucky, so we drove to Brandy Wine Falls, another 15 minutes south west. Enroute we both managed to see a small black bear crossing the road, no time for photos though. Amazingly the carpark was open! We walked the 1 km to the falls along a footpath with a steep rocky boundary on one side.
as with all previous forest walks the air was incredibly clean, lichen festooning the trees.
Over a railway crossing
and on to the falls, which were lovely but not quite as impressive as those of Wells Gray Park
My wildlife photo of the day
We walked back to the car and had lunch in our apartment before walking the 1km to Lost Lake... we weren't going to be defeated!
The walk took us along one of the cross country ski trails. We are most definitely in ski country.
Past another fancy golf course and club house
Our complex has a pool and hot tub which we made use of in the late afternoon sunshine
After dinner we had a wander around the village, purpose build for the 2010 winter Olympics. Not to busy at this time of the year, but in ski season you can imagine it having a real après ski buzz.
A few disappointments on that trip but still looking spectacular!
