Day 20 Return to Vancouver

This morning we packed up the car, moved it from the apartment parking spot to a car park opposite and then walked down to The Parliament Building for a guided tour. Once through security we joined a tour immediately. Our guide was local and very knowledgeable.

Afterwards we walked to Fisherman's Wharf. Not much fishing goes on now, more for tourists. But we walked passed some lovely areas

with some quite fancy cars

Eventually arriving at Fisherman's Wharf with some very quirky house boats.

We then caught one of the water taxis back to the harbour

and had a cold drink in one of the many bars along Government St before driving some 20 minutes to Elk Lake, part way to the ferry, where we enjoyed our picnic.

A further 20 minutes drive and we reached the ferry terminal at Swartz Bay. With a cafe called "Land's End," and a very jolly port official with a few wise cracks for those caught smoking in the queue!

We boarded our ferry for the 1 hour 40 minutes to Tsawwassen, south of Vancouver.

Goodbye to Vancouver Island

The ferry wove it's way between some very pretty islands

Had the offer of a photo by a Canadian lady that we got chatting to (she was determined she was going to take a pic of the two of us.)

A one hour drive after disembarking took a little longer due to volume of traffic

We made our way to our last Airbnb of this trip. Unfortunately it's not in the best of areas but at least we have secure parking and it's only for one night.
A nice apartment, but not with a great view!

The view up the street looks a bit better though!

Cooked a meal that  we'd brought with us so staying in until we head to a more salubrious area tomorrow, Granville Island, where we'll spend a few hours, have lunch then head to the airport for our overnight flight home.

We've had an amazing 3 weeks, a fantastic holiday, but looking forward to getting home.
