Day 4 A day out in Mulu National Park
This morning we travelled by canoe up river, it was extremely fast flowing and swollen after all the rain over night.
Firstly stopping off at a craft stall run by the local indigenous people. We also tried our hand at the local hunting method, the blowpipe, aiming at a target some 5 metres away. Some of us were more successful than others!
Then on up river to The Cave of Winds, so called because there's often a cooling breeze. Definitely not today, the humidity must have been pretty much 100% in side the caves.
Carried on up river in our canoe to Clearwater Cave, though "very muddy" would have been a better description at the moment.
After a coffee stop we climbed the 200 steps to the cave entrance. Seeing monofilia plants which are only found in this park.
After returning to the rest area we had the chance to swim "in the clear water" the current was pretty strong, the water looked muddy and I wasn't keen but was persuaded in.
After drying off we headed back to our resort, promptly getting soaked in the process in a very heavy rain shower.
We had a relaxing afternoon, listening to jungle life from our balcony and taking a few more photos. We passed on the mango and rice ice cream and went for something more recognisable!
For our last dinner with our local guide, Nazim, we went to a "restaurant" just outside the park. More like someone's house. The food was tasty, all the midges were not so delightful.
The night walk that was cancelled yesterday evening was rescheduled for those who wanted to go. We bade them goodnight and headed for our last night in our bungalow.
Tomorrow we fly to Kota Kinabalu. A flight of around an hour.

Amazing photos , can’t believe how much you are seeing on your travels .
