Day 5 A tree top walk and flight to Kota Kinabalu

Up early for a walk through the tree tops. No animals or birds sighted, I think that we were far too noisy!

Had a group photo under a very large tree

Managed to spot some wildlife and flowers on our return to base though

After a late breakfast we returned to Mulu airport and managed to get our ride in the back of the truck!

There was some pre flight entertainment too

We said goodbye to Nazim and took off early for Kota Kinabalu, referred to as KK here.

Our view coming in to land at KK

Unfortunately it was raining when we arrived. Can't say that we've ever had umbrellas provided for the walk across the runway before!

We were met by our new group leader Aldrin who is a local from the Sabat region that we are now in. The guides are not allowed to work between  Sarawat and Sabat without special permits. We had to go through immigration on landing even though we're still in Borneo.

This evening we visited the local night market

Noisy and busy with many items that we westerners find very odd, such as dried seahorses.

Then to the seafront just after sunset

for what can be described as a very interesting dinner. We went to a Thai restaurant, the staff were very flustered by our numbers, I think! Drinks took ages to come and the food came out in random order, however, it was all delicious. Vastly inflated price though, cost £26 for us both for 1 starter, 2 mains and 3 beers....outrageous!!
