Days 1 and 2 Travelling to Tokyo via Dubai

Our taxi arrived on time at 9 a.m and we left for Heathrow in glorious sunshine, a lovely way to start our journey, which, along with checking in, was easy and stress free. We are flying with Emirates who seem very efficient.

Double decker plane but we weren't upstairs in First or Business Class sadly!

We did splash out a bit on Premium Economy though and that was definitely worth it! Plenty of space, good service and all of our meals were of great quality.

Then a couple of hours at the airport before boarding a similar plane for the final 9 hour leg of the journey to Tokyo.

We flew into Narita airport

A pre booked taxi took us to the hotel, a journey of nearly 2 hours due to heavy traffic. In total it was 26 hours door to door. A very long day with just a few naps and a lot of eating meals at very odd times!

Having checked in we went to the hotel restaurant for a very nice dinner, then headed back to our room. which is on the 24th floor and has a view across to what looks like a black hole but we think that it might be a park!

It seems that the Japanese have a liking for very fancy toilets that do everything bar make your bed!

Looking forward to a whole night of sleep and to the adventures that lie ahead over the coming 3 weeks.
